Bobbie's Story

Bobbie Whitmarsh, 91, of Harmony, passed away at home, Sept. 21, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born July 11, 1926, in Harmony, the son of the late James and Irene (Shaffer) Whitmarsh.
Bob served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Bob graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1944. He received a bachelor's and master's degree in education from Indiana State University. Bob taught Science and Math at Van Buren High School until he retired after 33 years of service. He enjoyed his student's success very much. Bob's health had declined for several years. He looked to his Lord and Savior to sustain him. Today he is with his Lord and his family who went on before him.
Bob married Wanda Moss on Aug. 14, 1948. Bob loved his family. He had great pride in his daughter, Michaelynn. He also enjoyed his grandchildren, Troy and Chad. With great joy he loved his great-grandchildren visiting in summer and their dancing. He and his brother, Tom, took the boys fishing and camping at their cousin Norma's lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and stepfather, Michael Gulliford; brothers, Tom Whitmarsh, James Jr. Whitmarsh and Jackie Milton Whitmarsh; and two infant sons, James Eugene Whitmarsh and David Marvin Whitmarsh.
Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Wanda Whitmarsh; daughter, Michaelynn Woodrow; two grandsons, Troy Woodrow and Chad Woodrow; foster grandson, Brandon Baurmuller; three granddaughters, Sarah, Samantha and Emma Woodrow; a great-grandson, Conner Troy Woodrow; two sisters-in-law Carolyn Whitmarsh and Lela Moss; cousins, Norma LeMay and Betty Morris; niece, Linda (Mike) Nicison; nephew, Thomas (Connie) Whitmarsh Jr.; as well as extended family members and friends.
Visitation for Mr. Whitmarsh will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, from 4 until 8 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home, Tuesday, at 11 a.m. with Pastors Randy Dragon and Tim Voll officiating. Burial will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery.
