MARTINSVILLE, Ill. - Betty J. Claypool, 92, of Martinsville, passed away 9 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017, in Willowbrook at Effingham.
Betty was born Nov. 17, 1924, in Coles County, the daughter of Horace and Vivian Hanley Stewart. She married Lester Claypool, who preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1996. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathryn Elizabeth Bartlett and Freda Lauretta Stanberry; a brother, Horace Junior Stewart; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Claypool.
She and Lester were the parents of three children, David Claypool of Martinsville, Terry (Linda) Claypool of Mattoon, and Mary Ann (Dennis) Dehart of Farina; grandchildren, Chad Claypool, Angel Knauer, Tracey Perry, Tammy Hughes, Tonya Nelson, Margo Jean Donaldson and Matthew Allen; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was a member of the Five Points Christian Church.
Services in honor of her life will be 3 p.m. CDT Thursday at Five Points Christian Church, with Pastor Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will be in the Casey-Washington Street Cemetery.
