Anne S. Harshbarger, 85, went home to be with the Lord, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at home. She was born May 8, 1932, in Portland, Ore., to Eugene P. Stocks and Margaret M. Stocks.
Anne is survived by William Harshbarger, her husband of 59 years; son, David (Kathy) of Center Point; daughter, Amy of Center Point; son, Larry (Lillie) of Southport; grandson, Jeremy of Terre Haute; as well as cousins; and her good Christian friends.
She graduated from Bosie High School, Evansville College, and Indiana State University. Between teaching full-time, substituting, and working for Title I, she worked for over 50 years. While working for Title I, for Clay Community Schools, she was known as "The Story Lady".
She is a member of Ashboro United Methodist Church and the Southern Clay County Methodist Cluster Group. She loved sewing, knitting, reading, and traveling with her daughter on Turner Travels.
She traveled to all 50 states, plus England (twice), Scotland, Ireland and Canada. With her husband, she was part owner of Harshbarger Sharpening (blades, clippers, etc., for livestock). She was a founding member of Center Point Dump Patrol and the Center Point Zoning.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Center Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ashboro UMC or 14th & Chestnut Community Center.
