BRAZIL - Wilma E. Edwards, 95, of Brazil, passed away Jan. 15, 2018, at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility. She was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Porter County, the daughter of William Fredrick Hamann and Caroline Klemz Hamann.
As an adolescent girl, after her father passed away, she began working as a telephone operator in their home. She continued working for General Telephone following graduation from Kouts High School. In 1963 she moved to Terre Haute with General Telephone and achieved the position of chief operator. She worked for many years as the Federal Telecommunications Operator in Terre Haute.
Wilma was united in marriage on Jan. 22, 1944, to Ephriam Elroy Edwards. They later in life, bought property in the Center Point area and enjoyed time there.
Survivors include her children, Joseph Edwards (Mary) of Minnesota, Ronald Edwards of Peoria, Ill., Dennis Edwards (Jill) of Center Point, Valorie Callahan (Dennis) of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Eva Mullins, James Edwards, Andrew Edwards, Kyle Edwards, Glen Languirand, Karen Languirand, Michael Edwards, Austin Steward, Amber Wellum, Jama Smith, Jason Callahan, and Erin Hiltibidal; 16 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Madison, Koralie, Ollie Mae, Christian, Brandon, James, Rowen, Ethan, Alex, Pierce, Jackson, Mackenzie, Cameron, Taryn, Camryn, Jaxon Elroy; great-great-grandson, James; sister-in-law, Zulieka Hamann of Louisville, Ky.; brothers-in-law, Richard Hambrock, and Enoch "Nuck" Edwards of Kouts; other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elroy Edwards passed away in 2005; brother, Roland Hamann; two sisters, Amy DeFries, and Joan Hambrock; daughter-in-law, Ulla Edwards; grandson, Eric Edwards.
