William Hillary Smith, affectionately called "Hill," was born to the late John N. Smith Sr. and Kathryn Rapier Smith in Waverly, Kentucky, on March 15, 1948. He departed this earthly life on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, in Union Hospital.
William received his primary and secondary education from the Union County school system. While at school he met the love of his life, Regina Louise Vance. They united in holy matrimony on Aug. 3, 1968. To this loving union were born two sons, Darrell Eugene and Marc Allan; and one daughter, Rachelle Lynette. He was employed by Indiana Gas and Chemical, Evergreen Logistics and CBS as a guard.
William was preceded in death by his loving and faithful wife, Regina Louise Vance Smith; his parents; brother, John N. Smith Jr.; sisters, Margaret L. Johnson and Agnes Irene Sibley; and granddaughter, LaTina Wyatt.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Darrell and Mark; one daughter, Rachelle (Howard II); two sisters, Patricia Pendleton (Radcliff) and Mary Spalding; sister-in-law, Martha Ann McGraw; grandchildren, Hillary Duncan, Makena Collins, Mirayah Smith and Howard Lewis III; a host of nieces, nephews, special daughters, sons and friends; and a special nurse, Erica Lewis.
Service will be at noon Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Bethlehem Temple Church, 1423 S. 13th St., Terre Haute, In., Bishop J. Glenn Purnell officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service. Arrangements have been entrusted with Dixon Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services, 1910 Belleview Place, Indianapolis.
