William 'Bill''s Story
William "Bill" Jay Brown, 56, of Brazil, died Sept. 22, 2017, at Hendrix County Regional Health in Danville, Ind., following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born on Aug. 2, 1961, in Clay County, the son of William John Brown Jr. and Norma Jane (Wallace) Brown.
He graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1979. Bill worked at Sears, in the service garage, while attending Ivy Tech. After college he worked at Great Dane. Bill then worked at Hercules, which is now Taghleef Industries, for many years. Bill recently received an associate degree in industrial maintenance from Ivy Tech.
In his free time he enjoyed playing softball, riding his Harley Davidson Ultra Classic and being Papaw to his grandkids.
Bill married Lori Ann Harrison on Aug. 6, 1983. They have two children, John Kyle Brown and his wife Tara of Noblesville and Lacey Pearson and her husband Adam of Lewis. Bill was Papaw to Hadley Jay "Jaybird" Pearson and Ellie "Ellie Bean" Brown. Bill also was a brother to Becky Baire and her husband Dennis of Brazil; and he was uncle to Travis Baire, Sarah Baire and Emmy Baire.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William John and Norma Brown; a brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Lee Ann (Modesitt) Brown; and a mother-in-law, Alberta Harrison.
Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 East National Ave., Brazil, Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, from 4 until 8 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home, Thursday, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Paul Zurcher officiating.
