Warren A. "Pappy" Strohm, 90, of Marshall, Ill., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, in Burnsides Community Health Center. Warren was owner of Strohm Oil Company. He was born March 4, 1927, in Snyder, Ill., to Fred Strohm and Esther (Schaefer) Strohm.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Anna (Rhoads) Strohm; daughters, Rebecca Holmes (Jerry) and Carole Chappell (Chip); sons, Larry Strohm (Jeanne) and Randy Strohm (Terry); sister, June Cannady; grandchildren, Renee Grayson (Earl), Heather Schneider (Jamie), T.J. Holmes (Marisol), Kristin Strawson (Scott), Kelly Hamende (Jason), Corey Strohm (Jaclyn), Kylee Strohm, Chelsea Rogerson (Tyler), Fred Strohm (Ashley), and Michael Strohm (Megan); 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Vera Raisner; brother-in-law, Bill Rhoads; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ted and Dorothy Trefz.
Warren was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of First United Methodist Church in Marshall, the Knights of Pythias, where he was former Grand Chancellor of the Domain of Illinois, the Marshall Masonic Lodge 133 and the American Legion Post 90.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. (CST) in the First United Methodist Church, in Marshall, with funeral services at 1 p.m. in the church with Pastor Richard Lewis officiating, Burial will be in Marshall Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 90. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to either the Sons of the American Legion or First United Methodist Church, Marshall.
