BRAZIL - Violet A. Blackford, 84, of Brazil, passed away Oct. 23, 2017, at 7:05 p.m. at Exceptional Living Center. She was born May 19, 1933, the daughter of John D. Lawson and Eva Webster Lawson.
She graduated from Brazil High School, Class of 1952. She worked for many years as a telephone switchboard operator. She later worked at The Fashion Store in Brazil.
Violet was united in marriage to Charles Blackford on Oct. 17, 1953. They celebrated 64 years together. Charles and Vi have been members of the First Presbyterian Church for many years.
Violet enjoyed reading and being with family.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Charles Blackford, their daughter, Tamyra Rogers and husband Tim, all of Brazil; granddaughter, Kayla Withers; great-grandchildren, Haley Ray Withers and Nathan Scott Withers; nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Isabelle Cox and Peggy Taylor.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Lawson-Miller Chapel, with Gary Scroggins officiating. Music will be provided by Steve McCullough. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
