Vernon's Story

CLINTON Vernon "Vern" Louis Krabbe, 84, of Clinton, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1933, in Matteson, Ill., to William and Elda (Stuenkel) Krabbe.
He spent his career as a manufacturing engineer and traveled to many countries. In his younger days, he enjoyed riding his palomino and his Harley. He was an avid woodworker, and enjoyed golfing and bowling well into his retirement.
Vern is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara; his brother, Myron (Arlene); sisters-in-law, Shirley and Nancy, and Patricia Alabaugh (Frank); brother-in-law, Bill Gust; daughter-in-law, Jacalyn Hewitt; four grandchildren, John Hewitt (Katherine), Sarah Hewitt, Rachel Molter (Dane) and Jessica Hewitt; two great-grandchildren, Emmett and Ariadni; godson, Anthony Krabbe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, William G. Hewitt Jr.; his siblings, William, Norman and Dolores Gust; his sisters-in-law, Mary Kyle (Clarence) and Ruth Amerman (David); and his brothers-in-law, George Hopkins (Libby), Max Hopkins (Adelle) and Ralph Hopkins (Hellen).
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Terre Haute. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery. Condolences may sent to Frist Funeral Home at:
