Thomas Donald Harris Thomas Donald Harris, 76, of Terre Haute, formerly of Clinton, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at his residence. He was born Feb. 15, 1942, in Terre Haute to Donald Harris and Alice Marie Taulbee Harris.
He was a graduate of Clinton High School class of 1960. He graduated from Marietta College in 1964, then later earned his undergraduate degree in accounting, as well as his MBA, from Indiana State University. After attaining is CPA, he earned his doctorate degree from the University of South Carolina in 1989.
He was a professor of accounting at Indiana State University from 1989 to 2015, and had served as the department chairperson for several years. Tom was the recipient of several awards. He was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Terry Edward Harris.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Smith Harris; four daughters, Kimberly Fatten, Nicole Harris, Holly Brucken, and Jennifer Hamilton; one brother, Mark Harris; one sister, Donna Helt; four grandchildren, Emerson Hamilton, Smith Hamilton, Silmarien Fatten, and Gia Brucken; and several nieces and nephews.
As per his wishes, there is no visitation or service. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Department of Accounting at Indiana State University for a scholarship that will bear his name. Please make checks payable to "ISU Foundation", with Tom Harris Scholarship written on the memo line, and mail to ISU Foundation, 30 N 5th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47809.
