Theodore "Ted" James McDaniel, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, in his residence. He was born Oct. 7, 1934, in Vigo County, to Richard McDaniel and Margaret Ann Frances O'Hearn McDaniel. He married Sandra Ellis on Feb. 20, 1960.
Ted was a lifelong resident of Terre Haute, with ties to family and friends throughout the Wabash Valley. He attended Honey Creek High School and Maryland Elementary School. He served a few years in the U.S. Marines.
Ted is a direct descendant of William Aaron McDaniel Sr., for whom McDaniel Road is named, a soldier of the Revolutionary War and one of the first residents of Vigo County.
Prior to an extended illness, Ted enjoyed having coffee and conversation with his wife and friends at restaurants around the Terre Haute area. He was a frequent customer of David's 63 Café for many years.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Margaret McDaniel; his sisters, Juanita McDaniel Jacob, Ramona McDaniel Anderson and Stephany McDaniel Ficka; and his brothers, Richard and Russell McDaniel.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Sandra; his sister, Marcella McDaniel Blankenship; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen and there are no services. Arrangements are under the direction of DeBaun Funeral Home & Crematory.
