Thelma's Story

Thelma Rodgers Sherfey, 94, of Terre Haute, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Oct. 4, 2017, in Meadows Manor North. She was born Dec. 11, 1922, to Alvin and Cora Cook Rodgers in Savage, Mont.
To her birth family and in-laws she was known as Dolly. She graduated from Custer County High School in Miles City, Mont., in May of 1940. She retired from the Westin Paper Company as a payroll clerk.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Nancy L. Edwards Westgate and Carol M. Edwards Kattner; brothers, Elmer Rodgers, Edgar Rodgers, and Roy Rodgers; sisters, Maudie Rodgers Gallup, Delphone Rodgers Hohl, and Marguerite Rodgers Johnson; and a grandson, Forest Anthony Smith
She is survived by a sister, Delores Rodgers Walker; grandchildren, Jennifer Lariviere, Timothy Westgate, Anne Westgate, Greta Cherry, and Jill Wilson; great-grandchildren, Nena Putnam, Madeline Lariviere, Robert Lariviere, Ashley Montano, Ashley Cherry, Ivan Cherry, Liam Cherry, Megan DeHaven, Rachel Wilson, Nathanael Wilson, and Gabrielle Wilson, and great-great-grandchildren, Jonathan Perez, Savannah Montano, Beau Gallindo, and Juri Putnam.
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at 12 noon in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute. Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences can be made at: www.greinerfuneralhome.com
