Shawn Wesley Chilton, 38, of Brazil, passed away Feb. 17, 2018, at Methodist Hospital, due to injuries sustained in a work related accident. He was born on Jan. 24, 1980, in Terre Haute, the son of Chuck and Rhonda (Carter) Chilton.
Shawn graduated from Terre Haute North High School with the class of 1998. During high school he spent a lot of time in Auto Body Class. Shawn was honored with an award for his talent for his auto body work. Following high school he began driving for Teamsters Local 135. He had worked for Pepsi, N.E.W. Interstate, and most recently S.T. Construction based out of Terre Haute.
In his free time Shawn loved spending time with his kids, Isabelle and Wesley, and being around family and friends. He loved to make people laugh and was the life of the party. Shawn loved listening to 80s and 90s country music, spending time outdoors, sitting around the fire and going on rides on his side-by-side.
Shawn is survived by his wife, Kelsie (Summers) Chilton, whom he married on Aug. 17, 2009; his kids, Isabelle Chilton and Wesley Chilton of Marshall, Ill.; brothers, Shane Chilton and wife Lindsey of Tennessee, Cory Chilton of Brazil and Kyle Chilton and wife Hadassah of Kentucky; nieces and nephews, Paisley, Bryson, Jaydon and Jenna; his father-in-law, Don Summers of Brazil; brother-in-law, Jason Summers of Brazil; close friend, Travis Schoffstall; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, from 4 until 8 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home, Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bob Kumpf officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Shawn's family kindly asks that donations be made to benefit his children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
