Sam  Black


LYFORD - Sam Black of Lyford, passed away July 13, 2018, at 5:54 p.m. at his residence. Born in Atherton, to Frank Black and Katie Dellagiacomo Black. He was a World War II, U.S. Navy veteran and a retired superintendent at Freitag - Weinhardt Inc. in Terre Haute.
He was a member of Zorah Shrine, Free & Accepted Mason Lodge, Terre Haute. Local 157 for 35 Years. He was also a retired upholster and supporter of local organizations including, A.S.P.C.A. and N.R.A., Indiana State Sheriff's Association.
He married Helen Takats on March 24, 1947.
Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen (Aug. 8, 2011); and one sister, Vera Crowder
Surviving are his daughter, Sandra Black-Flater and her wife Donna of Terre Haute; grandson, Dirk Wilson of Lyford; granddaughter, Dana Winchester and her husband Jeff of Clinton; three great- grandchildren, Delayne, Deacon and Leeghan Winchester of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Giovanini Funeral Home in Clinton, from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2018, and funeral services are Thursday, July 19, 2018, at 11 a.m., with Marta Adubato officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
