Sally Ella Douglas Readinger left this life peacefully, Aug. 16, 2017, in Lancaster, Pa. Sally was born in Terre Haute, Ind., on Sept. 29, 1919, to Elmer and Juanita Douglas.
She was married to Leslie Frederick Readinger on July 24, 1945. She earned a scholarship to attend the Herron School of Art and Design for a year following high school.
She was a devoted wife and mother as well as a talented artist and seamstress. She made family homes in Fort Wayne, Ind.; Maumee, Ohio; Easton, Pa.; and lastly Lancaster. As a resident at Woodcrest Villa, she took part in many activities. She made repairs to the American flag at Woodcrest, learned to line dance in her 80's, enjoyed water aerobics into her 90's, painted with her watercolor group weekly, joined in book discussions with the reading group, and enjoyed playing Phase 10 with friends. As a member of Highland Presbyterian Church she was active in Presbyterian Women. She was ordained as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne.
Sally is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca Burmester of Raleigh, N.C. and Marjorie Masci of Highland Heights, Ohio; as well as six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Sally will be remembered for her beautiful smile and cheerful attitude.
