BRAZIL - Ronald J. Nance, 57, of Brazil, passed away Jan. 7, 2018, at 1:15 a.m. at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1960, the son of Bobby E. Nance and Joanne Adams Nance. He graduated from Terre Haute North, Class of 1978. He later received an auto body certification. He has attended the Nazarene Church in Brazil.
Ron has been a life-long farmer, but also did auto body work at home and for Stark Auto Body. He has also worked for Townsend Tree Service, Oxford Automotive and Lear Manufacturing in Greencastle.
He enjoyed riding motor bikes and motor cycles since he was a young boy. He liked working with Massey-Ferguson tractors and he liked to watch drag racing events. His favorite vacations were taken on board cruise ships to warm locations. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 2.
Survivors include his children, Wendy Thacker and husband Ron of Coatesville, and Rusty Nance and fiancée Heather Boutwell of Reelsville; his mother, Joanne Nance; grandchildren, Krista Lawhorn, Lisa Thacker, Michael Thacker, Kevin Thacker, Levi Nance, Kaylynn Nance, and Paris Collins; one brother, Robby Nance and wife Shelly of Brazil; niece, Stacey Lynn Nance; nephew, Steven Nance and fiancée Pam Paden; and great-niece, Olivia Nance; the mother of his children, Candy Kaelber and a dear friend and 'brother', Bill Cooprider, as well as many, many, close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Nance.
Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at 1 p.m., at French Funeral Home, with Pastor Marlin Betts officiating. Burial will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., and again one hour prior to services Saturday.
