Ronald's Story

Mr. Ronald Lee "Ron" Cotner, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 18th, 2017. Mr. Cotner was born in Logansport, on Nov. 8, 1946, to Albert and Elva Cotner.
During his youth, he also lived in Atlanta, Ga., Cleveland, Ohio, and South Bend. He graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, with a degree in Education with a primary focus in the areas of both History and Special Education.
He was the husband of Julie Ferris for close to 20 years and had two children during that time. Mr. Cotner is a veteran of the United States Air Force and also worked as the Circulation Manager for the Indianapolis Star and News for many years.
He is survived by his son, Robert Cotner of Terre Haute; and one grandson. Mr. Cotner spent much of his life with his long-time companion, Gale Handy of Fort Mill, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Melinda Cotner.
Graveside service will be on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 2 p.m., at Maple Lawn Cemetery, with full military honors. Pastor Jeff Landon will officiate the service. Local arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel.
