Robert's Story

Robert E. Brown, 91, of Switz City, passed away at his residence Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017. He was born in Greene County, Aug. 8, 1926, the son of John Russell Brown Sr. and Mary M. Hayden Brown.
Robert was a World War II Army veteran, retired from Crane Naval Depot, and was a member and elder of the First Christian Church in Switz City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Barbara L. Arthur Brown in 2006; a brother, John Russell Brown Jr.; and a stepson, Bryant Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Denney Scott Brown; one son, James Robert Brown (Jan) of Upland Calif.; daughter, Sandra Kay English (Larry) of Terre Haute; a stepson, Todd Scott of Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Adam Christopher English (Emily) and Susan Albano (Peter); two stepgrandchildren, Austin and Hunter Scott; and four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Abigail, Shelby and Joseph.
Graveside services will be Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Chris Gehring officiating and military graveside rites by the Lyons and Linton American Legion Posts at Switz City Cemetery in Switz City. There will be a private family visitation. Arrangements were entrusted to Newkirk's Funeral Home.
