Robert Ray 'Bob' Borders


Robert Ray "Bob" Borders, 91, of Jasonville, Indiana went to be home with the Lord Jesus at 12:22 a.m. Sunday, June 9, 2019 in Sullivan County Community Hospital.
He was born October 19, 1927 in Jasonville, Indiana to Charles R. Borders and Thelma Marie (McGuire) Borders.
Bob married Bonnie Alice (McCrocklin) Borders on November 4, 1949 and she passed away on April 4, 2013.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon R. and Vernon Raines of Jasonville, Linda Sue and Roger Lee of Sullivan, Indiana, Nancy K. and Bob Meeks of Lebanon, Indiana; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert "Bobby" M. and Kim Borders of Franklin, Indiana, Anthony "Tony" L. and Nancy Borders of Sacramento, California, Bruce A. and Lola Borders of Jasonville; grandchildren Jenny Robbins and Mike, Mike Myers and Amanda, Stacey Knowles and Todd, Gabriel Bond, Jennifer Lee, Jim Raines and Jill, Mark Raines and Brandy, Amber Weathers and Paul, Bobby Borders and Christine Carrico, Kyla Borders, Bethany Schunk and Isaac, Rebekah Bark and Brian, Jordan Borders, Jarred Meeks, Evan Meeks, Brandon Borders, Karen Borders; great-grandchildren Garrett, Grayden, Ashlynn, Jade, Sara, Alex, Lyric, Dom, Caleb, Gage, Nathan, Addison, Noah, Josey, Kyia, Khloe, Christian, Amari, Parker, Ema, Andrew, Felicity and Elijah; great-great-grandchildren Delilah, Bethany; sister Joann Crichfield of Terre Haute; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 63 years; daughters Cheryl Ann Borders, Karen Renee Borders; granddaughter Layla Raines; sister Norma Daugherty; brother Don Borders.
Bob was a graduate of Jasonville High School Class of 1945. He worked auto-body repair and paint over 50 years. He was a member of the Jasonville Assembly of God Church and the Jasonville American Legion Post 172. He was a U.S. Army veteran where he served in Japan from late 1946 to 1947. Bob loved to go to auctions, restoring bicycles, take drives through Shakamak State Park, camping, fishing vacationing in Branson, Missouri and The Smokey Mountains. Bob treasured the time spent with his family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian Street, Jasonville, Indiana with visitation scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and noon until 2 p.m. funeral service time Saturday at the Jasonville Assembly of God Church. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the church with Pastor Sam Bush officiating.
Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, Indiana with military graveside rites.
Contributions may be made in memory of Bob to the Riley Children's Hospital. Envelopes are available.
