Ralph's Story

Ralph Eugene Lawrence, 87, of Jasonville, went to be with his Heavenly Father at 8:58 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Eskenazi Hospital Burn Center in Indianapolis. He was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Terre Haute, to Herbert Delno Lawrence and Zelphia (Baker) Lawrence.
Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Myrtle (McBroom) Lawrence of Jasonville, whom he married Sept. 5, 1975; sister, Bonnie (Lawrence) Dickerson of Brazil; aunt, Mary Haney of Pueblo, Colo.; children and spouses, Connie Lawrence of Athens, Tenn., Sharon Stevenson of Sullivan, Pamela and Steve Gadberry of Sellersburg, and Nancy and Tom Dean of Edmund, Okla.; stepchildren and spouses, Kathie (King) and Mike Schofield of Indianapolis, Margaret (King) and Richard Wead of Aiken, S.C., and Regina (King) and Danny Campbell of Parsons, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jamie and Brent Fletcher, Jennifer and Daniel Culbertson, Jessica and Sean Mitchell, Megan and Adam Furer, Hannah Dean, Natalie Dean, and Hope Dean; stepgrandchildren, David Campbell, Paul Campbell and Jennifer Wead; seven great-grandchildren, Noah Mitchell, Logan Mitchell, Lyla Mitchell, Carson Fletcher, Kaitlyn Fletcher, Denalee Archibald, and Kimber Campbell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Juanita (Lawrence) Myers; brother, Larry Lawrence; brother-in-law, Max Dickerson.
Ralph was graduated from Staunton High School class of 1947. He was a member of Lincoln Christian Church, the El Shaddai Emmaus Community. Ralph was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was very much loved and will be dearly missed by his family. He worked as a computer programmer most of his life and loved working in his yard and garden. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he was an airplane radio operator.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian Street, Jasonville. Visitation is scheduled from 5 until 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, noon until 1 p.m. service time at the funeral home. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Cliff Gano officiating. Interment will be at New Harmony Cemetery on Highway 63 in Prairieton, with military graveside rites.
