Paul D. Jeffers, 83, of rural Waynetown, died at 9:53 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, in Creasy Springs Lafayette. He was born in Vigo County on Aug. 28, 1934, son of the late Theodore and Lorena Jeffers. He married Betty L. Ainsworth on June 9, 1957, in Vigo County and she survives.
Paul was a graduate of Glenn High School in Vigo County. He loved farming from an early age. He bought a farm and moved his family northwest of Waynetown in March of 1964. Even following his retirement from active farming, he could be seen 'road farming'...keeping an eye on the community farmers as he drove. Paul especially enjoyed watching the Amish as they farmed. He had been active on the 4-H Inc. Board, Indiana Farm Bureau and had helped at the Indiana State Fair.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; a daughter, Carolyn (Mike) Wicker of Rushville; two sons, Gary (Beth) Jeffers of Waynetown and Don (Angie) Jeffers of Waveland; four grandchildren, Jaret (Pam) Wicker, Quinn (Mike) Wilds, Andrew and Benjamin Jeffers; great-granddaughter, Hope; two sisters, Marjorie Tanner and Jean Zurcher, both of Terre Haute; and brother, Kenneth Jeffers of Fort Wayne.
