On June 29, 2017, Patti Cecilia Purcell of Terre Haute, moved from her earthly body to a heavenly body. She was born Aug. 7, 1944, in Terre Haute, to Jim and Maxine Rea, but was later adopted by Roy Purcell and was soon to celebrate her 73rd birthday.
She spent her life as a mother, homemaker, friend, and wife. She was active in her church to show her faith and love of God for many years. She had a huge heart that was filled with love and compassion for her family and friends. Through everything she always tried to find the silver lining to every cloud and to remain positive in her outlook. She spent many years as a hairdresser as well as Mary Kay Cosmetics to support her family.
Patti was preceded in passing by her mother and father, Maxine and Roy Purcell.
She is survived by one son, Jay Schinkel; two wonderful granddaughters, Jackie Arnold and Jamie Coppell; three amazing grandchildren, Zayden, Leah, and Liam; three sisters and one brother, Gayla Norris, Janna Bentz, Judy Purcell, and Ronnie Purcell, along with her cousin, Susan Henderson. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her wish after her passing was not for people to be sad, but instead be happy in the time that she was able to spend with all of the people that passed through her life. She wanted smiles and not tears because of her faith in God and knowing that everything that was wrong while she was on this earth will be washed away as she traveled through the gates of Heaven.
She loved, and was loved, by so many during her time with us. She requested that her body, which was of no use to her anymore, not be laid to rest in the ground but be cremated instead. In place of a funeral there will be memorial service and celebration of her life and the joy and love that she has brought to so many people.
Services will be at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N 13th St., Terre Haute, on her birthday Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, between 4 to 6 p.m. Please join us in sharing your memories of life and laughter of this amazing woman.
