KNIGHTSVILLE - Oma M. Montgomery, 90, of Knightsville, passed away at Cloverleaf Nursing Home, Feb. 27, 2018.
She was born Nov. 28, 1927, in Terre Haute, the daughter of Forrest B. and Everal K. (Chisler) Arnold.
Oma graduated from Rosedale High School with the class of 1946. She attended Ivy Tech and Indiana State University where she earned her CNA and LPN certificates.
She married August Russell "Russ" Montgomery. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Oma worked at Schultz and Company and as the Honey Creek Township trustee secretary. Oma also worked for 2 ½ years as Mary Hulman's private nurse, traveling companion and home healthcare giver in her home. She attended and was a member at First Christian Church, in Brazil.
In her free time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, bird watching, traveling and reading.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Everal Arnold; a daughter, Aileen Montgomery; brothers, Albert, Marion and Forrest B. Arnold Jr.; sisters, Clarice Marie Arnold and Kathleen Dial.
She is survived by her children, Murry Montgomery and wife Patty, John Montgomery and wife Lorraine, Pat Miller and husband Jim, Harold Montgomery and wife Laurie; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren (and three on the way); and one great-great-grandchild; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Services will be at Lawson - Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Ind., 47834, on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Chris Gregg officiating. Burial will follow at Durham Cemetery, in Terre Haute. Visitation will be at the funeral home, on Thursday, from 11 a.m. until time of services. To light a candle in her memory visit:
