Norma Pittenger, 76, of West Union, Ill., died at 8 a.m. Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Heritage Health in Robinson, Ill. She was born March 10, 1941, in Terre Haute, Ind., the daughter of Don Brown and Amy (McNary) Brown, both of whom preceded her in death.
She married Charles Pittenger on Oct. 26, 1958, and he preceded her in death on July 27, 2003. She also was preceded in death by her sons, Larry Pittenger and Thomas Pittenger; her granddaughter, Victoria Pittenger; her brother, Homer Brown; and her sister, Martha Price.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Emery and Dawn Pittenger (Charleston, Ill.), Mark and Tammy Pittenger (Marshall, Ill.), Danney and Shery Pittenger (Newton, Ill.), Timothy Pittenger (Martinsville, Ill.) and Terry and Brandy Pittenger (West Union); her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Steve Parks (Paris, Ill.) and Cathy Bachelor and Tim Garrard (Robinson); 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Della Bender, Elsie Rooney, and Anita Crumrin, all of Terre Haute; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Norma grew up in the Livingston, Ill., area and attended Marshall High School. Much of her life was spent raising her nine children. They could attest to the fact that she loved Elvis Presley with a passion. The strength she showed at the end of her life will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. CDT Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union. Graveside services will immediately follow and will be at Darwin Cemetery.
