LAFAYETTE - Norma Jane Jones, 90, of Reynolds, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, in IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, surrounded by her family. She was born in Atherton on Dec. 13, 1927, to Ernest August Mattick and Alice Ann Naisbett Mattick. She married Benjamin Jones Jr. on Oct. 24, 1947, and he preceded her in death March 2, 2007.
Survivors include son, David (Ernestine) Jones of Montezuma; and daughters, Sharon Hawkins of Bradenton, Fla., Shirley (Jim) Bedino of Las Vegas, Nev., and Sandra (Scott) Vana of Reynolds, with whom she resided. Also surviving are sisters, Marjorie Straw of Clinton and Phyllis Maden of Lyford; grandchildren, Marty, Mike, Mark, Marta, Kari, Keith, Brian, Adrian, Tyler, Jennifer, Samantha and Sara; 23 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elizabeth McIntosh and Ruby Taylor; and brothers, Ernest, Charles, Joseph and Phillip Mattick.
She was a housewife and sold Avon products for over 50 years. Norma was also an avid bowler and was a very talented musician who played the piano, organ, piccolo and violin well. She enjoyed spending time with her family and working crossword and other puzzles and watching game shows on TV.
Her memorial service of a life well-lived will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb, 11, 2018, at the Frist Funeral Home in Clinton, with visitation beginning at 12 noon. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Clinton, on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at 11 a.m. The procession to the cemetery will form at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.
