Mike Hoffman

BRAZIL - John Michael "Mike" Hoffman, 71, of Brazil, passed away June 11, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. at his home. He was diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer's in 2012.
Mike was born Nov. 4, 1946, in Clay County, the son of John Irvin Hoffman and Charlotte Jones Hoffman.
He graduated from VanBuren High School, Class of 1964. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 in Germany.
Mike started his work career as an orderly at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He later came back to Clay County and began working at Clay County Hospital. From orderly, he moved on to department head of housekeeping and laundry. He last worked in the Radiology Department scheduling and clerical duties. He worked for a total of 42 years. Along with his working at the hospital, Mike also worked at J.C. Penney in Terre Haute for over 18 years.
On July 13, 1974, Mike was united in marriage to Susie Crabb Hoffman. Together they have been devoted members of the First Presbyterian Church. Mike sang in the choir for many years and served on Session.
Mike was also involved in Clay County Community Choir and was a founder of the Community Theater of Clay County.
Survivors include his wife, Susie Hoffman of Brazil; son, Joshua Ryan Hoffman also of Brazil; daughter, Erin Kelly and husband Josh of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Riley Patrick Kelly and Harry Michael Kelly; brother, Jeffry Hoffman (Sandy); sister, Jenean Douglas (Greg); sister-in- law, Judy Neilan (Bill); brother-in-law, Steve Crabb (Margaret); one uncle, Wiley Hoffman; aunts, Sarah Bucklin, Kay Hobson, June Crabb, Charlotte Crabb and uncle Larry Crabb (Nancy); many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
Services will be held Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Lawson-Miller Chapel with Pastor Lee Reberger officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., and again one hour prior to services on Friday.
