Mary Rozella "Rose" McCarty, 90, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at Springhill Village in Terre Haute. She retired as a machine operator after 21 years of service with Bemis Corporation in Terre Haute. She was born Oct. 28, 1927, in West Union, Ill., to Nick Geheb and Hazel Jackson Geheb. Her husband, George McCarty, whom she married Jan. 17, 1948, in West Terre Haute, preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2002.
Rose is survived by a daughter, Linda Creasey of West Terre Haute; three sons, Mike McCarty and his wife Renee of Terre Haute, Max McCarty and his wife Susan and Jerry "J.D." McCarty and his wife Toni, all of West Terre Haute; eight grandchildren, Ryan McCarty (Tara), Shawn McCarty (Candice), Dawn McCracken (Sam), Niki Crandell (Gregg), Rick Porter (Julie), Chad Creasey (Wendy), Danielle Montgomery (Charlie) and Travis McCarty (Dorothy); 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She also was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Creasey; a great-granddaughter; her parents; and two brothers, Wesley Geheb and Gene Geheb.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in West Terre Haute.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Gladish officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and prior to services Wednesday. The family suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Wabash Valley with envelopes available in the funeral home.
