Marvin Jack Whittington, 86, of Brazil, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at the Waters of Greencastle. He was born in Hoosierville, on Feb. 4, 1931, to the late Willy and May (Lash) Whittington.
Jack served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and later married Wanda Siples on Dec. 21, 1956. He retired in 1995, from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology after 28 years.
In their early years, Jack and Wanda enjoyed camping and traveling. In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering with small engines and he loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Disabled American Vets, Veterans of Foreign Wars 1127, and a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 541. Jack has been a member of Berea Christian Church since 1967, where he served many roles including deacon and class president.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ivan Fritz and Austin Frost; sisters, Irene Patterson, Grace Callahan and Lucille Rhine; brother-in-law, Delbert Siples; great-niece, Brandee Siples; and great-nephew, Chase Morris.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Wanda Whittington of Brazil; brother-in-law, Darrell (Bonnie) Siples of Harmony; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Siples and Joanna Fritz, both of Brazil; nieces and nephews, Larry (Anne) Siples, Terry (Pam) Siples, Sara (Chip) Morris, David (Carrie) Siples, Matt (Holly) Siples, Marcia (Dick) Raab and Nancy Turner; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at Moore Funeral Home, in Brazil, with Pastor Tom Hess officiating and burial with military honors to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
