Martha's Story

Text size

Martha Ann Schrader, 82, exited this existence on June 9, 2017, in Indianapolis. She lost her struggle against cancer and dementia with her family by her side. She was born to Charles Bilbruck and Martha McClain Bilbruck, on June 18, 1934.
Martha was married on Oct. 8, 1955, to Ronald W. Schrader, the love of her life. She gave birth to two children, Jonathan Eric and Elizabeth Anne.
Martha lived a life of service to others by volunteering with the Friends of the Vigo County Public Library, the Clark-Landsbaum Deming Park Holly Arboretum, the Wabash Valley Master Gardeners Association and the Covered Bridge Girl Scout Council. She also provided costuming knowledge, skills and historical insight to numerous productions of amateur theater in Brazil and Rockville. Martha loved to share her knowledge of native plants and worked to beautify the Terre Haute area. She was "Mom" to many, from Girl Scouts to college kids.
Martha is survived by her husband, Ronald; and her daughter, Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her son, Jonathan.
Since she was a private person, there will be no service but the family asks that she be remembered with donations to any of the above institutions that Martha gave her time and efforts to improve and continue.
