Mark Allen White, 73, formerly of Rosedale, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at his home in Henrietta, Tenn. Mark was born "above the feed store" in Sigourney, Iowa, Nov. 23, 1943.
He grew up in North English, Iowa, and was a Hawkeye all his life. He met Janelle Burleson at college in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and she became his loving wife for their remaining 51 years together. Mark taught English at Rosedale High School before becoming postmaster in Rosedale. He retired in 2006 as postmaster in Carbon. He loved teaching, learning, old cars, people, his family, the kingdom of God, and the gospel story.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Gretchen Floyd White; and his grandson, Milo Allen White.
He is survived by his wife, Janelle Burleson White; sons, Eric (Sheila) White and Ryan (Autumn) White, both of Rosedale; daughters, Christine (Kevin) Walker of Pleasant View, Tenn., and Margaret Jeannette Minix of Greenbrier, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Andrew Walker, Evan Walker, Olivia Gabhart, Annika Gabhart, Bella Minix, Lyric White, Lark White, Marilla White, Mathis White and Mallie White.
Services will be at the Florida Township Civic Center in Rosedale. Visitation will be from 3 until 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, with the funeral service at 4 p.m. and a luncheon following. Mark also will have a funeral service in Tennessee on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017. The family will attend a burial on Monday in Rosedale.
