Marjorie "Mooch" Ellen Jeffries, 93, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully at Regional Hospital on March 21, 2017. She was born on Feb. 16, 1924, in Terre Haute, to her parents, Ralph and Charolette Stamper Willy. Marjorie was a graduate of Wiley High School and also the Union Hospital School of Nursing. Marjorie retired from Union Hospital after many years as an RN. She loved baking pies, gardening, mushroom hunting and swimming, loved to spend time at her church and spend time with her family, and she touched many lives during her nursing career, and also loved to travel and crochet. She was a member of Rio Grande Baptist Church, Why Me Breast Cancer Association, American Baptist Women's Club, Outreach to Recovery and Camp Bluebird, and she was also a breast cancer survivor.
She is survived by her children, Mark (Amy) Jeffries and Kay (Warren) Acklin. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Dylan Jeffries, Natalie Johnson and Darby Potts; five great-grandchildren, Jared, Hannah Potts, and Joshua, Nicole and Shane Johnson; and her great-great-grandchildren, Kamri, Kaydee, Karson, Justice, Jace and Jaxton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford "Bud" Jeffries, who she married on Oct. 18, 1946; a son, Steve Jeffries; a sister, Susie Arvin; a grandson, Ryan Johnson; and an infant grandson, Christian Jeffries; and her parents, Ralph T. and Charolette Willy.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, with a visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017. Officiating will be Pastor Chuck Bahr, with burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
