CORY - Margaret Ruth McCullough, 88, of Cory, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on March 11, 2018, at 12:30 p.m. She was born to Rudolph and Mabel (Beddow) Bettenbrock on March 30, 1929, in Terre Haute.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Rudy and Mabel; and a special niece, Sherree Fell.
Ruth graduated from Glenn High School in 1947 and married Billie R. McCullough on July 8, 1950. She enjoyed being a full-time housewife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. They lived at Cory and were married for 67 ½ years.
Ruth and Bill were members of the Cory Zion Church for 65 years. They loved family gatherings, attending and supporting their children's and grandchildren's activities, babysitting their grandchildren, cutting five acres of grass every summer, farming, campaigning, gardening, shopping and going to MCL Cafeteria. Ruth was a supportive and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Making noodles was her specialty, as well as many other delicious dishes. She absolutely loved her dogs and treated them like royalty. She loved helping others and was a hard worker. She was very passionate about her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Billie R. McCullough; two daughters, Lana Hendrix (Lloyd) of Cory and Karla Smith (Tim) of Terre Haute; four grandchildren, Landon Wellman (Kari) of Lafayette, Carson Hendrix (Melinda) of Lafayette, Brooklyn Nelson (David) of dJohnson City, Tenn., and Sophia Smith of Terre Haute; two great-grandchildren, Blaire and Grady Wellman of Lafayette; and special niece, Suzanne Fell of Cory; one brother, Marvin Bettenbrock (Nina) of Cory; two nephews, Vern Bettenbrock (Pam) of Cory, Von Bettenbrock (Kim) of Cory; and extended family members and special friends.
Funeral services will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 E. Eighth St., Clay City, Ind., 47841, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Mike Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home, on Wednesday, from 11 a.m. until time of services.
