Marcia Mills Jackson, 73, of Terre Haute, passed over to be with God on Nov. 19, 2017. She was born March 17, 1944, in Terre Haute, to Ellis Mills "Big Shoe" and Gladys (Debow) Mills.
Marcia earned her master's in education from Indiana State University. There she became a life member of Delta Sigma Theta. Marcia worked as a teacher for Vigo County schools and Lake County schools. She went on to become principal at Franklin Elementary School. After retiring from her education career, she became the assistant to Mayor Kevin Burke during his term in office. She later retired from the Will Center. Marica also held membership on the Terre Haute Regional Hospital Board, Leadership of Terre Haute, and many other community organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Gary Mills, James Mills, Bessie Rose and Carrie McGoffney.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Willie Jackson; siblings, George Mills (Selma), Sandra Wilford, Hiawatha Worrell (Michael), Candice Mills and Dawn Mills; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews and friends.
In honoring Marcia's wishes, cremation has been chosen, and no services are scheduled at this time. The family has entrusted care and arrangements to Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute.
