Lucy Hodge Perchman, 92, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018, at Union Hospital with loving family by her side. She was born November 30, 1925, in Terre Haute, to Roy Wade and Amy Walden Wade.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, De'Sheer Harris; three sons, Jesse, Forrest "Bill", and Terry Batson; one grandson, Scott Batson; five brothers, Calvin, Everette, Eldridge, Roy "Lonnie", and Marvin Wade; three sisters, Flora Primus, Margaret Billings and Bennie Gordon.
She is survived by one daughter, Darlene Harris, of Terre Haute; 38 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Gwendolyn (William) Smith, of Terre Haute; her beloved granddaughter, Amy Boga; and great-granddaughter, Amirra Grisby; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lucy was employed at Columbia Records and as foster grandmother with the Foster Grandparents Program. She enjoyed working in the homes of local families especially her many years with the Foulkes family. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved cooking and spending time with her family. She put her heart and soul into it. She enjoyed gardening, garage sales, and acquiring antique furniture. She was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She loved giving her support to the church financially and helping in the kitchen.
Lucy loved all people. Her kind nature and spirit will be remembered by all. The affect she had on our lives will be with us forever.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, February 10, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Services will commence at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Terry Clark officiating. Interment will be at Stewart Lawn Cemetery. Russell Funeral Home assisted.
