Loretta's Story

Loretta Mae Kuykendall, 92, of Terre Haute, stepped into Heaven at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 12, 2018. She was born on April 28, 1925, to Elbert and Adah Griffin. Her loving husband, Jim, preceded her in death.
Surviving are three children, James V. Kuykendall and wife Sue of Denton, Texas, Dr. Gerald L. Kuykendall and wife Candida of Gainesville, Fla., and Jeanine M. Weger and husband Thomas of Terre Haute. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, David Smithers and wife Breana, Allan Kuykendall and wife April, Clint Kuykendall and wife Ashton, Laura Dedenbach and husband Gerry, Andrew Kuykendall, Thomas Weger Jr. and wife Jennifer, and Todd Weger and wife Tandy; seven great-grandchildren, Rylee and Ryder Smithers, Mallory Kate, Truitt James, and Gentry Paige Kuykendall, and Hannah and Trey Weger.
Loretta loved her church family. She was a member of Cross Lane Community Church. She also loved music and played the piano for several years at both the church and Little David's.
She was employed as the Indiana State University Bookstore manager for 33 years.
Special thanks to those that were a comfort to us during this journey. Also, a special thanks to St. Vincent Heart Care Group, especially Dr. Prystowsky and his team of skilled and knowledgeable doctors and nurses. We are thankful for the compassion which Dr. Koduru and his staff has shown us. We would also like to thank the staff at Great Lakes Health Care/Hospice group.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at the funeral home, with Pastor Brett Wilson of Cross Lane Community Church officiating, music by Ross Willimann, and Kyle and Stephanie Nelson. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Loretta's name to Cross Lane Community Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
