Lethe Ann "Huapala" Krueger, 70, of Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, in Moanalua Medical Center, after undergoing open heart surgery. She was born June 23, 1948, in Terre Haute, Ind.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Joseph Kizo Krueger; daughters, Lina Aiko Krueger, Maui, Hawaii, and Lokelani Amiko Lee (Jeramey), Mineola, Texas; son, Joehayne Kahakuwaiokalani Krueger, New York; and siblings, Larry, Gary (Pam) and Jerry (Carol) Hayne, Lynn Clark (John), Lana Lytle (Thomas), Lydia McNamara (Thomas), Thomas (Dawna), Robert (Noelani) Krueger and Emily Markee (Louis); and grandchildren, Brandon Elizares, Bailey Miller, Aiden Lee and Mason Lee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lethe was preceded in death by her parents, Eve V. Hayne and stepfather Ralph W. Hayne, and Bernard F. Rubsam; daughter, Leilani Ann Krueger; and sister-in-law, Thelma Hayne.
Lethe was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Maui, Hawaii, where a Mass was held on Feb. 2, at 10 a.m. She attended St. Patrick, Schulte and State High Schools while growing up in Indiana. She was a retired H & R Block bookkeeper. Her passions were her family and her faith.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. this Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Terre Haute, Ind., with Fr. Darvin Winters Jr. officiating. A celebration of her life will be held after mass from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Holy Family Center. A private burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any local food bank/soup kitchen.
