John R. Wilson, 74, of Terre Haute, Ind., lost his battle with cancer at 6:54 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2017, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
He was born Feb 4, 1943, in Terre Haute, Ind., to John R. Wilson and Helen R Wilson.
John was a jet mechanic and in air rescue in the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged, John worked many years as a plant manager at Decatur Container in Decatur, Ill. John was a member of the VFW Post 972, member of Marine Corps and lifetime member of American Legion #104, as well as the Voiture 40/8.
Survivors include his son, Heath Wilson; sister, Patty (Wilson) Swider from Tilton, Ill.; brother, Tom Wilson (Peggy) from Terre Haute, Ind., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Sharon McKillop and Theresa Wilson.
The family would like to thank all nursing staff on the second floor of Union Hospital for their compassion in caring for John. Thanks to a special friend, Jack Hensley.
The family has chosen cremation with private family services. John will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Danville, Ill. Arrangements were entrusted to Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, Ind. Online condolences can be made at:
