John Roger Mullenix
December 11, 1948 - March 14, 2019
John was born on December 11, 1948, in Clay County, Indiana, the son of Homer E. and Ava Mae (Hall) Mullenix. He graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1966. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country for 4 years before being honorably discharged. John earned a degree as a radiology technician from Ivy Tech. He worked at Terre Haute Regional Hospital as an echo and vascular radiology technician. He retired in 2011 after more than 20 years of service.
John was an avid reader and would read anything from biographies to text books. He also loved his Australian Shepherds, Charlie and Yadi (named after his beloved St. Louis Cardinals baseball team catcher). He also enjoyed working outdoors and watching Western movies. He was a member of the American Legion, the Carbon Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.
John is survived by his wife, Linda (Riggs) Mullenix, whom he married on March 30, 1968. He is also survived by a daughter, Sally Norris of Brazil; a son, Chris Mullenix of Brazil; grandchildren, Breanna Norris, Brandon Norris, Braden Norris, Carter Mullenix and Matthew Mullenix; two brothers, Joseph Mullenix, and James Mullenix and wife Annette; and his mother-in-law, Betty Riggs; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Visitation for John will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., Brazil, Indiana, on Monday, March 18, 2019, from 5 to 8 p.m. Masonic services will be held on Monday, at 7:30 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, at 11 a.m., with Todd Payton officiating.
