John N. Lawrence, 85, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, in his home. He was born July 1, 1932, in Madison County, Ill., to Walter Lawrence and Elizabeth Ovilla Palmer Lawrence.
John served in the United States Army. He retired from Anaconda Aluminum. He was a member of Terre Haute Seventh Day Adventist Church and was baptized at age 82. John also was an accomplished carpenter and he also enjoyed working on old tractors and cars, especially doing the body work. He enjoyed doing yard work and loved all animals, especially his dogs.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 60 years, Barbara Jo Blankenship Lawrence, who passed away Dec. 25, 2014; and eight sisters and six brothers.
He is survived by his daughters, Camellia Setliff and her husband Richard of Terre Haute, Sherry Willis and her husband Garry Ralph of Carbon, Brenda Thompson and her husband Kenneth of Brazil, and Alohna L. Morrow of Centerpoint; his grandchildren, Ryan Goshen, Jonathan Goshen, Michael Foster, Logan Thompson, Camille Morrow and Bethany Morrow; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at 1 p.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with visitation from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home with Pastor Daniel McKibben officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
