Joann Kiser, 86, of Brazil, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 3, 2018, while staying at Exceptional Living Center. She was born in Brazil, on May 30, 1931, the daughter of William and Clara (Hoopingarner) Girton.
She graduated from Brazil High School and attended Purdue University. She worked at East Side School in Brazil, as a librarian and teacher's aide. She retired in 1996 after many years of service.
Joann was a member of the Brazil First Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Clara Girton; her husband, James Kiser; and a brother, Donald Girton.
Joann is survived by three children, Rahn Kiser of Brazil, Robert Kiser and wife Susan of Utah and Susan Johnson and husband Col. (Ret.) Craig Johnson of Plainfield; and two grandsons, Taylor and Christopher Johnson.
Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, from 4 until 6 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home at 6 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
