Jami Lynn Britton, 55, of Dana, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Jan. 24, 2018, in her residence. She began her 32 year career in education in 1985 at Montezuma Elementary School as a teacher and became principal in 2005. She was born Feb. 16, 1962, in Clinton, to Larry Malone and Charla Wittenmyer Malone.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, James L. Britton, whom she married Sept. 19, 1986; also her parents of Rockville; two sisters, LeAnn Malone and LuAnn Malone, both of Clinton; one brother, Larry "Joe" (Pam) Malone of Lebanon; two stepdaughters, Michele (Kyle Lemon) Beck of Tuscumbia, Ala., and Shasta Britton of Louisiana; five grandchildren, Dawson Beck, Trystan Beck, Kolton Beck, Keylee Lemon, and Brooke Lemon; father-in-law, James R. Britton and wife Carol of Montezuma; brother-in-law, Bart Britton and wife Pansy of St Augustine, Fla.; sister-in-law, Kathy Watts and husband Joe of West Terre Haute; special friends, Brian and Lisa Porter of Rockville; and several nieces and nephews. She considered all her students her children.
She graduated in 1980 as the Salutatorian of Turkey Run High School, 1984 graduate of Indiana State University and earned her master's plus at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 West Howard St., Rockville, with Pastor Deb Moore Hardin officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Montezuma.
