James Walton Jr. was born on April 3, 1956. He graduated from State High in 1975. James earned his accounting degree from Ivy Tech Community college. He was employed at Wabash Fiber Box, Royal Oaks, and finally retired from Mosaic.
James was affectionately known to his friends and family as 'Junior', his children as 'daddy' and to his grandchildren as 'papa'. Junior was a family man and loved his family more than life itself. He was married to Gayle Walton for 34 happy years. He was a gifted musician playing the clarinet, saxophone, organ and piano; his true passion was music. He used his gift as a choir director and minister of music for various churches, along with weddings and special occasions. His purpose and joy came from taking care of his family and enjoying his grandchildren.
James Walton Jr. passed on Tuesday, Nov. 14 2017, at the age of 61 years at Union Hospital, in the presence of his wife and children.
He was preceded in death by his mother; father; and two foster brothers.
Living in memory is his dedicated wife, Gayle Walton; sons, Tyronn Robinson and Lance Barbee; daughter, Sharee Barbee, Akiah Walton, Lataye Walton and Shanteal Walton, all of Terre Haute; one sister, Evelyn Walton; stepmother, Clara Walton; 12 grandchildren, Cierra, Devyon, Elaisha, Janeye, Norriah, Alyssa, Aveion, La'Miah, Cody Jr. Brielle, Sevontis and Nysia; one great-grandchild, Addison; as well as a host of relatives and friends.
Service are 1 p.m. Saturday at Second Missionary Baptist Church with calling from 10 a.m. until services. Interment in the Grandview Cemetery. Russell Funeral Home assisted.
