James R. (Jim) Kiefner, 69, of Clearwater, Fla., passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2017. He was born April 9, 1948, in Terre Haute, to Ernest and Helen Kiefner. They have two children, Jamie Kiefner and Julia Peters. Jim is survived by his wife, Cindy; Jamie and wife Jillian Kiefner, Pinellas Park, Fla., Julia and husband Tim Peters, Spring Hill, Fla.; four grandchildren, A.J. Kiefner, Palm Harbor, Fla., Brittany Kiefner, Tampa, Fla., Jeff Walsh, Largo, Fla., and Alex Kiefner, N.C.; brother, Robert Kiefner and his wife Beth Kiefner, Terre Haute, Ind., brother, Edward Kiefner, St. Cloud, Fla., and sister-in-law, Cindy Kiefner, St. Cloud, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Archer, Max, Brian and Marley; nieces and nephews, Terry Wright, Tammy Siner, Cindy Bryan, Shelly Keen, Tricia Sartor, Angie Karr, Candace Kirkland, Robert Kiefner, Christopher Kiefner, Carrie Willis; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jim graduated from Hymera High School in 1966 and attended Indiana State University. He obtained his Florida contractor's license and was a member of Largo Elks Lodge #2159. He married Cindy Bedwell of Farmersburg, Dec. 16, 1966, daughter of Cecil and Mabel Bedwell, both deceased, and sister of Esther C. Wright, Sullivan, Ind., whose husband Jerry passed in 2014 and was greatly admired and loved by Jim.
Jim was preceded in death by his infant son, Christopher Charles Kiefner; father and mother, Ernest and Helen Kiefner, Riley, Ind.; brother, Timothy Kiefner, Riley, Ind.; nephew and son of Edward, Eric Kiefner; paternal grandparents, Jonathan and Vernah Stewart, Riley, Ind.; and maternal grandparents, John and Mary Petry, Terre Haute, Ind. Jim's favorite things were his family, playing guitar with Jamie and Tim, sunsets at Belleair Causeway, the Tampa Buccaneers and his hometown of Hymera.
A celebration of life is being planned at his home. In lieu of flowers, please donate instead to your preferred cancer charity. We love you so much; you are terribly missed already.
