Ida Joan (Jeffrey) Hargis, 65, of Brazil, Ind., passed away peacefully at 9:17 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, in her home, after over a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend of many. She was born Nov. 29, 1952, the daughter of Thomas and Marie Jeffrey.
She leaves behind her very devoted husband of 46 years, Mitchell Hargis; her son, Shawn Hargis and his wife Beth, and their children Lane and Maybelle Hargis; a daughter, Jessie Freeman and her husband Joe, and their children Kylee, Daisy Mae, Cerria, Macayla, Breanna and Hali Solis (Ralphie); and her two great-grandchildren, Sophie and Mia Solis; a brother, Bill Jeffrey (Sue); her very special friend and just like a sister, Myra Bosworth (Butch) and their kids Lori, Jenny and Scott; a sister-in-law, Patty Neal (Terry); brothers-in-law, Jack Hargis, Bob Hargis and Chuck Elkins; two sisters-in-law, Linda Jeffrey and Zona Arend; special friends, John and Lisa Shields, David and Brenda Bogie, Arkie Auterson, Sue Hisncamp, and Donna and Ernie Hisle; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by and now joins in heaven her parents; three sisters, Flora Jarvis, Ella Elkins and Laura Stevens; four brothers, Tom, Joe, Larry and Oney Jeffrey; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Linda and Dewey Hargis.
She and her husband, Mitchell Hargis, fought her battle with cancer together as they did everything else in life "together." They truly enjoyed life and each other. Ida loved life and enjoyed exercise; pickleball; yard sales; word working and crafting; traveling with her husband and best friend, Mitchell, back and forth to Florida every year; and going hiking in all the different national parks and visiting all over the U.S.
In honoring her wishes, cremation has been arranged with no services scheduled. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
