Helen Margaret Mancuso

June 06, 1924 - January 11, 2019

Helen Margaret Mancuso On Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, Helen Mancuso was allowed to slow dance once again with her husband, Lt. Col. Thomas Mancuso. Helen was born in Terre Haute on June 6, 1924, to James McCormick and Margaret Foley McCormick.
Searching for employment, she moved to Chicago and fell passionately in love. Tom and Helen were happily married on Sept. 27, 1947, and remained so for 65 years. They raised three sons, Tony, T.J. and Tim; and a daughter, Carol.
Helen worked as a secretary and later as a waitress. But her greatest passion was Italian cooking and chiding Tom for burning the garlic bread. She also enjoyed all arts and crafts with the grandkids. Glue, glitter and a mess were her specialties.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Tim; and a grandson, Tony Mancuso Jr. Her legacy includes eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and the many friends who were welcomed to stay in her home and her heart.
Visitation will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church, 2405 S. Seventh St., Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, from 9 until 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. at the church. Father Dan Bedel and Father Ron Ashmore will be officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, that you share a special memory of Helen and place it in a memory box that will be located at the church. Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, Ind. Online condolences may be made at:

Our condolences to the the entire Mancuso family for the loss of a very special person. Helen was a wonderful individual who truly loved the time that she was able to share with her family and her children's friends as well. She treated us like we were special and in doing so , created the atmosphere that always welcomed us back. together with the fragrance of Lasagna & Italian Beef or whatever Italian treat . Best Wishes T.J. , Tony , Carol & all your families - she will be missed.
