Gerald Wayne Burdette, 80, of Terre Haute, passed away Nov. 21, 2017, in his home, at 10:48 p.m. He was born Oct. 27, 1937, to Wayne and Pauline Burdette, in Riley, Indiana.
Gerald was a member and former elder at the Union Baptist Church. He worked as a dispatcher for the Roadway Trucking Co. and retired after 27 years. He was a veteran of the Navy Reserves. Gerald was very involved in the Wabash Valley Horsemen, and served as the King of the Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Norma Phillips.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna Williams Burdette; a daughter, Abby Hendricks and her husband Martin; sisters, Shirley Roth and Karen Fogleman; a granddaughter, Samantha Hendricks; and lots of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial services are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, in Union Baptist Church. A visitation is scheduled from 3:30 p.m. until the service time at the church. Pastor Rod Maris will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southern Care Hospice or Union Baptist Church. Arrangements were entrusted to Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, Indiana.
