Georgia's Story

Georgia Lee Hatfield Chappell passed away March 15, 2017. Georgia was born May 19, 1946, in Terre Haute, to Francis Wayne Hatfield and Berniece Scanland Hatfield.
Georgia is survived by two sisters, Sally Roberts of Chicago and Barbara Sonner of Lexington, S.C.; seven nieces and nephews; 20 grand-nieces and nephews; four great-grand-nieces and nephews; and two beautiful cats.
Georgia taught 5th grade for 36 years at Central Elementary School in Plainfield. She attended Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Ill. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in elementary education from Indiana State University in Terre Haute.
Georgia enjoyed many interests and hobbies; travel with family and friends; mission trips with her church; tennis; sewing and crafting. Many friends have been blessed and encouraged with her hand crafted gifts and cards.
A celebration of life service will be held for Georgia at Conkle Funeral Home in Avon, Saturday, March 25, 2017. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed with a memorial service at 1 p.m. Her final resting place will be at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in North Terre Haute.
