George Edward "Ed" Neidlinger, 71, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 9:17 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, in his home. He retired from the Wabash Generating Station after many years of service. He was born Sept. 24, 1946, in Terre Haute, to George Earl Neidlinger and Catherine Louise Morlan Neidlinger.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Nancy Kay Corbin Neidlinger, whom he married on July 2, 1966, in St. Louis; a son, Jim Neidlinger of West Terre Haute; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Michael Hill of Largo, Fla.; a former daughter-in-law, Tracie Eble; a very special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Brenda and Tom Vandivier, who were their traveling companions; two nephews, Scott Neidlinger and Steve Neidlinger(Lisa); two nieces, Cheryl Funk(Duane) and Elizabeth Fagg (Will); five grandchildren, Cameron Bell, Shelbi Bridgewater (Eric), Cade Bell, Jamie Neidlinger, and Kianna Sweatt; three great-grandchildren, Layla Bell, Castiella Bridgewater and Dexter Bridgewater.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Neidlinger; and a niece, Lisa Hastings.
Ed was a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Army having been stationed in Germany. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 193, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6574. He loved to travel and loved spending time with his family a lot of times out in his garage playing cards, darts, or visiting.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home with Pastor Billie Ray Fields officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 noon until service time Saturday.
