CENTERVILLE, Ga. - George M. McGrew Sr., peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of Oct. 29, 2017. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, in Parkway Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Deacon Tom Cooper will be officiating.
Mr. McGrew was born Jan. 18, 1936, in Indianapolis, to the late James and Bertha McGrew. He worked at Indiana Wholesalers making doors and windows for many years and later went to work at Anchor Glass Company where he retired as an inspector. George was of the Catholic faith, an avid handyman and enjoyed woodworking even in his last days. He was a loving husband, father, and brother who will be greatly missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Kelly McGrew; daughter, Taressa Stanley; grandson, Joshua McGrew; sister, Delores Burk; and brother, Jimmy Dale McGrew
Survivors include his girlfriend, Nell Smallwood; children, Debora Pratt (Richard) of Centerville; George McGrew Jr. (Wendy) of Frederick, Md.; Keven McGrew (Laura) of Centerville; second family, Terry House and Donna Owens; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur McGrew and Mark McGrew; sister, Judy Edington; and two sisters-in-law, Sandy Kelly and Carol Anne Smith.
