Gene H. Cline, 95, of Marshall, Ill., passed away 12:02 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. Gene was born July 25, 1922, in West Union, Ill., the son of Ivan and Nell Kile Cline. He married Elsa M. Coryell on Sept. 12, 1948, in Marshall, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 2009.
He was a retired farmer and served this nation with the 4th Division of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Surviving are three children, Nancy (Dan) Crumrin of Martinsville, Ill., and Jim (Jane Ann) Cline and Tom (Paula) Cline, both of Marshall; grandchildren, Sarah Reaves, Maggie Cline, Adam Crumrin, Aaron Crumrin, Alissa Huffington and Scott Cline; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his siblings, Burton Cline, Maxine Davidson, Lois Winland and Flora Ann Williamson.
He was a member of Marshall Lodge 133 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite Valley of Danville and Ainaid Shrine Temple. He also was a member of the West Union American Legion and Clark County Farm Bureau.
Services in honor of his life will be 10 a.m. CST Friday at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Duke officiating. Burial will be in the Brick Cemetery, rural West Union with military graveside rites conducted by Clark County Post 90 of the American Legion and VFW Post 5975. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, it is requested memorial contributions to the Marshall Swimming Pool Fund or the maintenance fund of the Brick Cemetery Association. Online condolences are being accepted at:
